Social workers are trained professionals who specialize in helping patients and families increase their capacities for problem solving and coping, helping patients fully utilize medical care and services by explaining health-care resources and policies to patients, family and professional staff, helping patients and families obtain needed resources, facilitating interactions between individuals and between people and their environments, helping plan for post hospital patient needs by arranging for services at another facility or in the home, helping patients and families receive needed follow-up care by referral to health-care resources.
In addition, volunteers have been recruited and trained since the opening of the hospital. The volunteers services include patient service, inpatient visits, emergency patient service, wheelchair and book lending service, community service, etc. |
